We’re celebrating some fantastic news at McIntyres after being named finalists in five categories at HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards 2027, making us one of the most shortlisted salon businesses in the UK.

McIntyres shares the distinction of being the joint most-shortlisted salon business this year alongside Melissa Timperley Salons in Manchester, with nominations recognising everything from leadership and management to customer service and teamwork.

Organised by Hairdressers Journal International, the British Hairdressing Business Awards celebrate excellence in the business of hairdressing, recognising the people and salons demonstrating strong leadership, commercial success and a commitment to delivering outstanding client experiences.

With entries assessed by an expert judging panel, reaching the finals in five categories is a significant achievement and a proud moment for everyone at McIntyres.

Five Nominations Across McIntyres

Our directors, Kay McIntyre and John O’Rourke, have been shortlisted for Salon Business Director of the Year, sponsored by L’Oréal Professionnel, for the third consecutive year.

Meanwhile, Cara Webster has secured her first nomination for Salon Manager of the Year, becoming the only Scottish salon manager shortlisted in the category this year.

We’re also finalists for the Customer Service Award, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, Salon of the Year 1, and Salon Team of the Year, sponsored by Alan Howard.

It’s particularly rewarding to see recognition across so many areas of McIntyres, from the people leading and managing our salons to the team delivering the experience our clients know and love.

A Proud Moment for Our Team

Speaking about the announcement, Kay McIntyre said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted in five categories at the Hairdressers Journal Business Awards. The nominations add to a long history of industry recognition for McIntyres. We previously won the Marketing Award at the British Hairdressing Business Awards in 2001, and we’re delighted to be back among the finalists in 2027.

The 2027 finalists were selected following a judging process recognising business performance, fresh thinking and the ability to respond to the changing needs of the hairdressing industry.

The winners will be announced on Monday 1 March 2027 at the London Hilton on Park Lane, where we’ll join some of the biggest names in British hairdressing for the annual awards ceremony.

With five nominations, we’re looking forward to a fantastic evening celebrating with our team and the wider industry.
