Active Schools Dundee Host first ever Volunteer Awards Ceremony

Active Schools in Dundee will host their first ever Volunteer Recognition Awards Ceremony on Saturday the 31st of March 2012 at the Hilton Hotel, Dundee. The awards are designed to raise the profile of Volunteers involved in the programme and to celebrate the huge impact and success they have on sport and physical activity across the city in our schools and communities.

Volunteers involved in the Active Schools’ programme delivered 170,669 participant sessions in primary schools with a further 48021 sessions delivered in secondary schools (2010 stats). That’s a staggering 218,690 sport sessions or 599 sessions a day being delivered for the children and young people of Dundee free of charge – “An astonishing achievement of which we are very proud” comments Shelley Booth, Active Schools Manager.

McIntyres Hairdressing are delighted to be involved and Kay McIntyre, McIntyres Salons Founder and Creative Director will be presenting one of the awards on the night helping to celebrate the achievements of these Volunteers (School Staff, Teachers, Students, and Parents) who really do make a difference to the range and number of opportunities available in our schools and communities.

This is a unique event to help celebrate the hard work and dedication that is the cornerstone of school sport and physical activity

McIntyres would like to congratulate all those who are nominated for an award.
